Maybe its the goal to kill all low-wage jobs in this country and maybe I am crazy to think that there needs to be room to pay less for work that just plain isn't worth that much. I have said for years, its only worth so much to have a hole dug.
My kids and those of most of the people I know are having a hard time finding a part time job because businesses are automating work (Wendy's / McDonalds) or are moving work to teams that are out-of country. Then there are jobs, like stocking games on the shelf at Game Stop.... its just not worth $15/hr to perform that task.
There has to be room for people to make less when the job just isn't worth paying someone more to do.
Then there is this awesome cycle of, we need more money to buy things because prices have gone up... ok... so lets pay people more, which drives up costs more, which drives up what we all have to pay... ie increased inflation
At the end of the day, there is now massive wage compression and many jobs are just going away. How is this good again?
In Dallas the minimum wage is $7.25/hr yet the average hourly wage is $27.89. In Seattle the min wage is $15 (twice as much) and the avg hrly is $35.74. The cost of living difference between Dallas and Seattle is 30%. As in Seattle's $35.74 = $24.86 in Dallas. So, despite having DOUBLE the minimum wage, people in Seattle still make far less than the average person in Dallas....
To add to this, increased cost and increased base wages only serves to drive down, or hold stagnant the wages of those that have the things necessary to become more valued and paid higher wages thus diminishing their ability to keep the market rolling through their expenditures and decreasing their extraneous wealth to be able to give back to those in need, or to invest in adding/creating new jobs.
It seems to me the goal may be Socialism. Neither pure Capitalism nor Socialism works. Greed is the culprit. In pure Capitalism Greed drives the rich to hold down and misuse the poor, In Socialism a lack of ability to actually get ahead by putting forth extra work and expense to become more capable and educated is not rewarded...so why do it? If the goal is to drive us towards an ignorant and lazy society... lets go for it. Please understand I am not pitching for pure capitalism either, but we need to look at our recent past and what other countries have gone through as a result of socialism and look at what our country was able to do with a different model historically.
How about we seek to cure the true root issues, like education, mental health, and our broken family structure and not seek a model that has been proven to fail in every instance.

Reentering the workforce can seem overwhelming and to be reminded of the calculation of how to submit and what to expect from your paycheck helps us to budget and to plan ahead. Overtime looks good but how is calculated? I support the Administrative policy of review for helping people to know how to calculate their overtime and what to look for on their paycheck. How their federal taxes are counted and what is disbursed, where and to whom! I believe it is important to know when your taxes are raised ,how they are used in your state, how it effects the consumer goods and services that you have and what is federally regulated with an contract with the government that can't be increased in price. I am for the policy of review for this ES 1-8.

In the uploaded documentation it stated that the Administrative policy was on the table but it did not state exactly what was being given and if anything is to be removed. I know that state law says that all businesses need to post a minimum wage docket sheet that will inform the employee of what the rate is. When an employee is signed up with an employer for alittle over minimum wage or a set rate and that price has been negotiated then the employee disregards the posting and looks forwards to the agreed price for hire rate. However, it is mandatory that all businesses post the state minimum wage docket sheet in the employee area. Will the State of Washington be raising minimum wage? It was my understanding that is was at $13.00 per hour. That is a long way from $8.75 per hour which is what it was at when I last worked. That was in 2013. That should really keep the employment force booming.
